You never know what is going to happen! After a number of years as a widow the trip to our 40th Reunion had its own positive twist of fate. Melinda Moore and I spent quite a bit of time talking the 2nd night of the event and just over a year later she is Melinda Moore Gottschalk. Besides my own two children (a daughter and a son and daughter-in-law) I now have two additional "sons" - two "daughter-in-laws" and we now have nine grandchildren.

Doug & I have been married since August of 1975. We lived in Bartlesville, OK for 2 .5 years and then moved to Texas. We were in Houston for 12 years and have been in Midland since 1991. I am currently an Independant Associate with Stream. I help people save money on services they are already paying for, like electricity (in de-regulated states) and wireless. When they pay their bills, I get paid. |

Comment: Upon graduation from LHS, I enlisted in the Coast Guard and spent four years as a Navigator and Search & Rescue Coordinator in Ketchikan, AK. After my dicharge in 76, I went to Orlando, Fl where my parents retired. I became an EMT and met my future wife Barbara at the hospital we worked for. In 1978, I went to college on the GI Bill. In 1980, Barb and I were married and our son Matt came along in 81. While in college, I joined Army ROTC and recieved my commission as a 2LT in 81. Upon my graduation from the University of Central Florida in 82, I went on active duty with the Army - Infantry School, Helicopter Flight School and was eventually stationed at Ft. Richardson, AK (Flight Section Leader, Company Admin Officer, Liaison Officer to the Artillery. Released from active duty in 1986 and returned home to Florida. Three years of depressing dead end jobs then I found Prosthetics & Orthotics (Artificial Limbs & Braces) Worked for a year as an apprentice, went to school at Florida International University, Miami and became certified as a Prosthetist/Orthotist in 1993. Barbara and I started our own Mobile In-Home P&O practice in 1994. Since then we have built and sold three practices. Thought we were going to retire in 2010 but the economy changed our mind. Started our latest practice in 2011(Hogan P&O). Barb and I have been married for 31 years. She is my best friend and indispensible business partner. My son Matt served three years in the Navy, shattered his left ankle and was medically discharged. He is now in school at Unversal Studios in Orlando to become a digital animator. In my spare time I build things. Right now I'm building a peddle powered Kayak. I look forward to the reunion and seeing everyone again. |
