Randy G. Asher, age 64, passed away September 21, 2018 in Leavenworth. He was born November 14, 1953.
Randy was married to our classmate, Patty (Hodge) Asher for 44 years. They had dated since the 8th grade. They had two children, Jeff and Megan and six grandchildren. Randy owned Main Street AutoBody & Tow which went right along with his love of cars- restoring old cars and racing. He loved to attend and be of assistance at the reunions. His big smile will always be missed.
Walter Brown, age 62 passed away November 15, 2016 in his home in Topeka, KS. He retired as a MSGT in the U.S. Air Force, he served from 1975-1996. He also retired from the State of Kansas and retired FedEx Courier. He loved barbeque and enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles - Harley Davidson to be exact.
Jeannie (Murdock) Bruno, 66 passed away. Barbara Jean Bruno was born on December 4, 1954. Many called her Barbara but she went by many names, she loved each person in such a unique way. She was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in 2008 and underwent dialysis three times weekly for the past 12 years. She is survived by two children, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three pets and and ex-husband who loved her untl the very end.
Ron Camp was born on June 15, 1954 and passed away June 12, 2017. He was in the Army, was married and divorced, and had no children. He died very unexpectedly from congestive heart failure. He lived in Leavenworth in the house that was his Mom and Dad's on Cheyenne.
On Sunday, October 9, 2022, Durand K. Dickerson fell asleep in death. He was 68 years old. He was born to James and Wanda Dickerson. Durand was a dedicated husband for 48 years.
Durand was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 46 years. Above all else, he was dedicated to his ministry. He loved talking to others about the Bible. He ministered at the prison and was a mentor to many.
Durand owned and managed Dickerson Recycling for many years and provided service in Leavenworth, Lawrence, Topeka, Kansas City, St. Joseph and other locations. He was passionate about doing his part to ensure that others benefited from his work locally, nationally, and internationally. He also volunteered in food distribution at The Leavenworth Mission.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, his children, Robert Dickerson, Elaine Latt, and Hope Montenegro, his grandchildren Daunte, Kwrystal, Robert, Sarina, Janae, Jordan, Braxton and Reyna. He also leaves many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are his brothers, James Jr., Ronnie, Richard, Bingo, Robert, and Leroy, his sisters Patricia, Saluda Kitt, Carmelnita Fossum, and Laurice. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral discourse will be on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2500 10th Avenue, Leavenworth, Kan.
David Dykes passed away February 19, 2004.
Major Michael Dale Esher. Retired USAF, passed away August 11, 2012 from complications from traumatic brain injury. Michael was born July 10, 1954 in Valley Forge PA to John D. Esher (deceased) and Nancy (Cocking) Esher. Michael graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1972. He attended the University of Kansas (1977), Webster University (1982), and Capital University Law School (1989). Michael entered the Air Force in 1977 and retired in 1993. He served August 1990 to September 1993 in support of Operation Desert Shield/ Storm. While in the Air Force he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He always had a great love for all things aviation, and from the Air Force went to work for Raytheon Aircraft Company as the Contract Manager, Kansas City Aviation Department as the Deputy Director of Economic Development/Properties, Alaska Airlines as the Director of Properties, and Pierce County Public Works and Utilities as the Administrator for Airports and Ferries. Michael had a great sense of humor and could always make you laugh.
William Lee Fisher,69, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on February 3, 2024. He was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on July 29, 1954 to William Carl Fisher and Ella May Gilbert Fisher.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Fisher, sons, Alan Fisher, Justin Fisher, Brandon Fisher, and Stephen Fisher, daughter, Christina Casperson, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law’s, Ruby Gowdy and Kaitlyn Renaud.
Celebration of Life will be held at Leavenworth Baptist Church, 746 Spruce St., on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 1 P.M. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
David Fryman, July 10, 1954 - March 1, 2018. Born to Hershel L. and Virginia L. East in Leavenworth Kansas. Attended Leavenworth High School. Enlisted U.S. Marine Corp. 1973-1975. Survivors include sons, David L. Fryman (wife: Sabrina Utica. New York), and Justin L. Fryman (wife: Kelsey. Atchison Kansas), granddaughters Ella, Alexis, Carolyn, Madalynn, Brooklynn, four brothers Lawrence, Dale, Thomas, all of Leavenworth, Larry of Easton and sister Lisa Fryman-Wright of Easton, several nieces and nephews and large extended family. David worked many jobs through the years; most recently he was employed by the Easton School District as a bus driver and custodian. David loved his children and grandchildren very much and will be sadly missed. David had many friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
Carolyn Sue (Loiacono) Gaskins was called to be with the Lord on January 13, 2020, following a courageous battle with kidney failure. Carolyn ws born on September 5, 1954 at Saint John's Hospital in Leavenworth, KS to Russell and Zeta Gaskins. She married Ronald L. Stein with whom she had two daughters. Being a wife and mother was Carolyn's true passion. She was an administrative assistant at KU Medical Center and lover her job and all her coworkers. She married Frank Loiacono in 2004 in Jamaica and they resided in Grandview, MO.
Deborah (Kearney) Goetting, 54, of Nortonville, Kan., died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Medicalodge of Leavenworth. She was born Sept. 8, 1954, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Kenneth W. and Jean M. (Bradley) Goetting. Deborah worked at the Leavenworth VA Medical Center. She retired as Chief of Medical Services with 35 years of service. She enjoyed camping was a Nascar fan, enjoyed needlepoint, and was a K-State fan.

Clem Hughes passed away on January 5, 2022. He worked at O'Reilly Auto Parts store in Leavenworth. A friend posted a tribute to Clem.
"Lost a dear friend who's smile and attitude brightened everyones day that he touched." Clem was a sweet, sweet man - such a gem.
Rhonda (Quiroz) Ireland passed away on December 1st, 2023. She was outgoing, friendly,charismatic, and a joy to be around. On November 21st she went into the hospital with an unknown infection attacking her brain. Her kidneys started to fail, as her body tried to fight the infection. She had a stroke in February/March timeframe and was too weak to fight off the infection. She lot the battle and peacefully died in the hospital.
Robert Jarvis, 36, passed away December 18, 1990 in New York.
Daniel "Dan" Kell, 65, of Leavenworth, KS passed away on April 26, 2020 at the Saint Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He was born May 26, 1954. He worked at the United States Federal Penitentiary for a combined 20 years, retiring in 2009. He also owned and operated Dan Kell Plumbing. He was married to Roxann Marie Dodd. Dan was know as the gentle giant who was fiercely proud of his kids and had an outlook on life of practicality. He never held back his opinions and with that you always knew where you stood with him. Dan never met a stranger and had a heart as big as his tall stature.
Linda (Hund) Kroll, age 65, was born August 11, 1954 and died March 14, 2019. Her life story is attached. Linda worked for Leavenworth County in the Registrar of Deeds and City Clerk's Offices, then Municipal Court, and LHS as school accountant. She retired in 2002.
Michael G. Lord, 49, died at his home in Kansas City, MO on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002. He was the son of Donald and Connie Doebele Lord. He worked at Inkman's Grocery Store for 10 years and later as a nursing assistant at the Eisenhower VA Medical Center fo 20 years. His most recent employment was at the Salvation Army in Kansas City, MO as a clerk supervisor. He was survived by a son, Cristopher Lord.

Patrick M. Rafter, 60 years old passed away Sunday January 4, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care. He was born March 27, 1954 to Leaonard and Roberta Rafter. He maried Deborah J. Perkins on May 8, 1990. He was an over the road driver for BRW Express for 20 years and attended Word of Life Church.
Kat (Ryan) Dungan, age 65, passed away April 4th, 2019 at about 10:40 from complications of ovarian cancer. Kat fought a brave battle with her ovarian cancer. She epitomized grace in handling her diagnosis, living with chemo, her disturbing prognosis, all the thoughts that come with dealing every day with her last day-last everything, the leaving of Gdog to fend for himself, and possibly not finishing the quilt she was making for her third grandchild coming in June. She loved, loved, loved her granddaughters, Irelyn and Charlotte. Kat lived her faith and reminded us what in life is really important. She touched many lives with her calm, peaceful, loving demeanor, but also touched Julie Castaneda's, author of Dog Church. Julie mentions Kat in her book and thanks God for sending Kat to help her find balance in her hectic life and uncover her fun, creative side. If you didn't know Kat, you will know her by the phrase written in her obituary by their son, Chris ..."live simply, walk humbly, and love genuinely..."
Donna Lou (Hedrick) Schmidt, passed away March 31, 2021. She was a graduate of Kansas State University and used her degree in nursing to help delvelop several Life Flight programs for different hospitals. This career led her to Florida where she eventually moved into the home health care sector, before enjoying an early retirement. Her great passion was running and her multiple marathons had her traveling and helping charitable organizations areund the world in her younger years.
Kent Seeler, 67, passed away on August 11, 2021. At the age of 46, Kent was the 335th person to receive a new heart at Barnes-Jewish Hsopital in St. Louis, MO. He said the transplant was good but not a perfect cure. He took a lot of medicines that were hard on his other organs and he spent a lot of time seeing doctors. Due to damage to his organs, he dealt with end-stage renal failure. His inspirational message from April of 2019: "Life isn't always perfect, but it is great to be alive, and we may not be happy, but we should always be grateful to just be alive. I am thankful for all the days I have had and hope to see many more. He said to please keep in contact and he would tell me all the processes that he had gone through. Until then, keep smiling."
Cheryl Simmons passed away on April 16, in Pensacola, FL.
Janet L. Sparks, 67 formerly of Leavenworth, KS and Oklahoma City, OK passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 in Platte City, MO. Janet was born January 19, 1954. In her early career, Janet worked as a correctional officer at KSP, Lansing, KS. She was one of the first female officers at the facility. She spent 32 years as a public servant for the State of Oklahoma and retired June 1, 2017.
Denise Throckmorton passed away on April 10, 2022. Denise was from the class of '73 but graduated early. Her picture was in the '72 yearbook in the senior pictures. Denise married Charlie Cruce and retired from Hallmark Cards. Her and her husband lived in Lansing, Kansas.
Phil Tinder, 66, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021. Phil was born July 13, 1954 in Leavenworth. He received his Bachelor Degree in education from the University of Kansas and was a huge Jayhawk fan. He maried Sharon Chartier and raised two children Jason Spiess and Amber (Spiess) Guiterrez. He was passionate about sports from coaching his children in a variety of sports and umpriring and referring sports for 40 years for the state and city.

Robert G. Woodward, 69, Leavenworth, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 2, 2023, 5 to 7 pm at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 3, 2023, 11 am at Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Vic Yoakum, 65, of Topeka, KS went in the arms of his Savior at the Midlands hospice house Saturday, January 18, 2020. After graduation Vic went into the US Army and was stationed in Bamberg, Germany. Completing his service, Vic moved to Emporia, KS and worked for IBP until 1985. After completing training at the Flint Hills Vocation Training, he moved to Topeka, KS to work for the Topeka Emergency Communications. In 1991 Vic joined the YMCA as the manager of the massage therapy program until he started Back Issue Bodywork Therapy in 1995. Vic married K. Kelly Reed and they were both very active in their church. He is survived by his wife of more than 37 years.
Elizabeth Ann (Upchurch) Yunghans , age 62 passed away December 14, 2017. Elizabeth was born March 16, 1955 in Leavenworth, KS. She was the daughter of John Oscar Yunghans and the late Joanne Elizabeth Wolfe Yunghans. She was part of the class of 73 but graduated in December 1972.
