What's on your mind
Hi Class of '72,

We have learned that our classmate, Randy Asher, husband of our classmate Patty Hodge Asher suffered a massive stroke on Saturday, September 8, 2018.  Patty was with him and he was admitted to KUMC ICU where he remains.

The doctor believes he is "coasting" at the moment.  Randy responds to commands for his right side, but not for his left.  As of yesterday morning, Thursday, September 13, he is stable snd resting well.  The doctors will perform a tracheotomy and insert a feeding tube this morning.

Many of you knew him from the Motorhead group of pictures from the 40th and from pictures at Grinder's at the 45th. Please send thoughts and prayers for healing of Randy and comfort and strength for Patty, Megan Asher Vanek, and Jeff and their families.  Address for Patty and Randy:

Joe Beavers to head StuCo, advocates dress, hair change (Patriot 5-14-71)
Joe Beavers will head the 1971-72 Student Council resulting from elections April 29. Serving with Joe will be Robert King, VP; Nancy Thompson, Secretary, and Chris Fevurly, Treasurer. Senior representatives are David Weakley, JoAnn Montgomery and Susie Flummerfelt. Junior representatives are Faye Davis, Lisa Barta, Frick Masterson & Robert Atkins. Joe stated he felt the system needs changes. “We have to get with the administration. I’m going to push for hair code changes and jeans for girls. The codes we have now are ridiculous. Long hair is no distraction in class. Students would notice short hair more. “Times are changing and unfortunately LHS is a little behind. We need new courses and the administration should spend more time getting good courses and less time worrying about hair and dress codes,” he said. “School spirit is the backbone of a good school,” says Robert, “and if the administration would loosen up on restrictions, spirit would be better. We need a Pinoeer Pete to wear a pioneer costume & go to every game to promote spirit. “The election should be held after a few games so students can see who would be a good Pioneer Pete. He should be proud and boost morale. Some students didn’t even know who he was this year”, Robert states.

Here's a trip down memory lane with Paul Hutchins. (1970)

OMG! I was a widow at the ten year class reunion and I am now a widow again. My husband of 47 years Michael Penman class of '74 died September 6, 2021. He had his fifth heart attack on July 22 and tested positive for Covid 4 days later. On a ventilator for 21 days. Came home for one week and then back to the hospital. Spent his last week in a hospice house. Grateful to be with him the last two weeks of his life. Don't know if I will attend again in a Harley t-shirt, white cut offs and Nike tennis shoes like I did in '82. Carol Banks contacted me about three months before she died. She was looking so forward to the 50th reunion.

I just want to say hello to my fellow classmates and '72 graduates.  I haven't seen any of you except two since we graduated and I look foirward to getting reacquainted with as many of you as possible. I had a great phone chat with Mike Hogan which was made possible by my decision to attend this reunion.  I was saddend to see that Alan Nelson has passed.  He was a friend during my time at LHS and I remember him fondly.   My best wishes to all, See You in October Jim Johnson
